Branislav Djurasevic


Born 11.4.1957. Yugoslavian chess composer, inventor of nowadays so called Djurasevic cycle. In 1993 I won in one competition his book 'Svi moji sahovski problemi', collection of his 111 chess problem from years 1970-1992. So, let's look at short selection.

Simple retroanalysis shows that in set play last black move was surely 1.c7-c5 and thus:

1...dxc6 e.p. 2.Qxg7 Bxe7#

1.Kxg7 Qc3+ 2.e5 dxe6 e.p.#

Two en passant captures by white. Intelligent use of set play.

Gamage unpin mates, dual avoidance in first black move motivated by need of closing other line piece. Nice point is that white queen in first move pins piece unpinned on mating move.
